Army Catering Corps Golfing Society Report 2024
Society Committee President Allan Cochrane , Vice-President and Majors Secretary Tony Monk , Chairman Graham Smith , Treasurer Geoffrey Acott , Tour Secretary Paul Hollely, Match Secretary Tony Fryer. Charity 2024 Society Captain Eric Lewis raised £1400 for The Salisbury Food Bank and 2025 Captain Steve Wheeldon, has chosen Julia’s House Children’s Hospice as his charity
2024 was a successful year with a satisfying number of members attending the major events and several new members joining the society. The Spring Meeting was held at Greetham Valley Resort LE15 7SN. A record number of members signed up and enjoyed the popular 2-day event with two demanding courses and excellent accommodation and dining facilities. The full Programme of Events for 2025 is appended below with some events yet to confirmed. During this year the Society sent a questionnaire to members and with about 40% responding there was sufficient evidence to adopt a new approach for the future. Details can be read in the Winter Flaming Cauldron 2024 report, when published.
This is a vibrant, friendly and successful society with around sixty members. The Society is always looking to attract new members, which is open to all former ACC and serving or retired RLC chefs. The Membership Fee is £15 per annum. Society   is   in   the   fortunate   position   of   receiving   a   grant from the Royal Logistic Corps Trust Fund which in its turn received the balance of the Army Catering Corps funds in 1993 on amalgamation. The Society plays up to five matches against other military teams and holds four major competitions during the year, as well as a four day tour and a match "The Bone of Contention" played against the RAF Caterers Golf Society, this year won by the ACC. Additionally, the ACC Officers' Club has a fixture against the Worshipful Company of Cooks of London in August each year. Eligibility for this match is membership of the ACC Officers' Club. The 2024 match was played at the Tidworth Garrison Golf Club, with a close contest resulting in a win for the "Cooks". The "Duff Cup" was presented at a dinner held at Norton Park Hotel near Winchester. The 2025 match is scheduled for Tuesday 5th August 2025 at Tidworth Garrison Golf Club.
