Minutes of the Committee Meeting held at the Army Golf Club 25th October 2019

Attendance: Geoffrey Hawkins: President, Graham Smith: Chairman, Tony Monk: Vice Chairman and Major’s Coordinator, Mike Bell: Representative Matches Coordinator, Geoffrey Acott: 2019 Society Captain, Treasurer, Society Tour Coordinator, Terry Reddings 2020 Society Captain, Paul Critchley: Member. Welcome and Opening Remarks: The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting It is great to see our President Geoff Hawkins as well as Paul Critchley (recently retired) and our 2020 Society Captain Terry Reddings in attendance today. He thanked all members of the Committee: Geoff Acott: For his considerable contribution to the Society throughout 2019. Being the Society Captain where he continued as the Society Treasurer, as well as coordinating the Society Tour. Terry Reddings: For standing in as Captain in some of the matches in Geoff’s absence and wished him well for his year as Captain in 2020. Mike Bell: For organising all the Society Representative Matches. Tony Monk: For coordinating all of the majors again this year it is no easy task putting out all the information, collating the returns, organising the draw, confirming the details for all attendees as well as playing in the competition, collating all the scores and managing the prize giving. Also for putting together a lot of information for today’s meeting which is most useful and greatly appreciated by everyone. From the Chairman’ perspective: “We had another very successful year for the Society and following the revised format at Presidents Day all members in attendance were in agreement that all major competitions including the Society Championships will now be over 27 holes which I think is a big step forward and meets everyone’s approval”. Apologies for absence: Apologies for absence were received from Allan Cochrane: Vice President Minutes of the 2018 Committee Meeting & Matters Arising These were sent out to everyone prior to the meeting so the Chairman did not intend to go through them in any detail at the Committee Meeting. Matters Arising: There were no matters arising from the Minutes. Proposed by Paul Critchley, Seconded by Tony Monk that the Minutes were a true and accurate account of the 2018 Committee Meeting. Minutes of the 2019 AGM Held at Carlton Park Hotel on Mon 13 May 19 Geoff Acott had chaired the meeting in the absence of the Chairman and the minutes were subsequently distributed to all members. Following discussions it was agreed that in future, Society Management Committee (SMC) meetings will be designated as Society Management Meetings (SMM) and the AGM will now be designated as a Society Ratification Meeting (SRM). It will continue to be held during the Society Tour. Decisions made at the previous year's end of season SMM are to be tabled by the Chairman or his representative for ratification by the members attending. A 2/3 majority will be required to ratify each proposal which will then be actioned by the SMC for the following year. Tony agreed to update the ACC GS Constitution to recognise these changes. Financial Review and Fees for 2019: Society Treasurer Geoff Acott presented an up-to-date Statement of Account to the Committee, a copy of which is attached. Based on the account movement over the past year it was agreed that there is no requirement to increase the subscriptions. Fee’s for 2020: There will be no change to the fees for 2020 unless there is a significant increase in charges for golf and catering from the Army GC. The Treasurer confirmed that the Society continues to receive a Grant in Aid from the RLC Trust Council for £3.5k per year. Society Tour: Tour Secretary Geoff Acott will again organise the 2020 Society Tour and will be supported by other members on tour for the day-to-day running of the golf including the draw and collation of scores etc. It was confirmed that the Society Tour for 2020 will be held in South Yorkshire returning to a 4 days of golf over 18 holes a day with later tee timings. No lunch will be included. Confirmed bookings had been received from 10 members of the Society and an estimated 20-24 people would be in attendance. Representative Matches The Match Secretary Mike Bell updated the meeting confirming that matches for 2020 would be against REME, RAPC, PWRR and RAF Caterers. The RAF Bone Match may possibly return to a home and away match in 2020 we await confirmation from the RAF. Mike will update everyone in due course. The format for these matches was discussed with the matches against RAPC & PWRR being played over 27 holes. Mike will speak to REME to get their views on a possible change to 27 holes and the RAF Bone Match would continue to be played over 36 holes for 2020. Majors Update Tony Monk Major’s Coordinator updated the meeting on the numbers of players attending the events this year which were Spring Meeting: 16, Corps Championships: 13, President's Day: 19 and Captain's Day: 23. Following the revised format at President's Day all members attending agreed that all future Major Competitions will be played over 27 holes including the Corps Championships. The numbers in attendance have remained steady with the Corps Championships attracting the least number of players. It is hoped that this may improve for 2020 with the change to 27 holes. Tony provided some detailed information to include Major attendees, consolidated results sheet and also the 2019 report that will be published on the ACC Association Website. Review of Prizes Following discussions, it was agreed that the prizes for 2020 will be given as cash in an ACC embossed envelope. (Geoff Acott agreed to print these). It was agreed that in addition to the cash prize the winner of individual competitions will receive an engraved memento. Majors Secretary to action. The Corps Championships being the most prestigious competition, after some discussion the prize money was agreed as follows: Scratch Winner: £50 Runner Up: £40 Medal Handicap Winner: £40 Runner Up: £30 Stableford Winner: £40 Runner Up: £30 The rule that a player can only receive one prize will continue although the results will show individual positions in each category. Majors Secretary to action. Any Other Business: Tony Monk agreed to distribute the 2020 programme of events as soon as details have been confirmed.
