2022 ends the 60th year of the formation of the ACC Golfing Society at its home course The Army Golf Club in Aldershot and the end of the Covid-19 restrictions. There have been many improvements to both course and the club environment and it is rightly regarded as one of the best in Hampshire. The majority of our events are played here and visitors always enjoy the experience. However for many of our members it is a long way to travel as they have dispersed from the Aldershot area over the years. To help in this the 2023 Spring Meeting will be held in Northamptonshire at the Whittlebury Park Course. The programme next year is appended below. We have welcomed a number of new members this year which is gratifying, but at the same time the pool of active members is reducing, which puts considerable pressure on the remaining players who support the majority of our events. The Society Committee is very grateful to these faithful members as we would not flourish without their support.
This is a vibrant, friendly and successful society with around sixty members. The Society is always looking to attract new members, which is open to all former ACC and serving or retired RLC chefs. The Membership Fee is £15 per annum. Society   is   in   the   fortunate   position   of   receiving   a   grant   from the Royal Logistic Corps Trust Fund which in its turn received the balance of the Army Catering Corps funds in 1993 on amalgamation. The Society plays up to five matches against other military teams and holds four major competitions during the year, as well as a four day tour and a match "The Bone of Contention" played against the RAF Caterers Golf Society, this year won by the ACC. Additionally, the ACC Officers' Club has a fixture against the Worshipful Company of Cooks of London in August each year. Eligibility for this match is membership of the ACC Officers' Club. The 2022 match was played at South Winchester Golf Club with a close contest resulting in a draw . The "Duff Cup" was presented at a dinner held in Worthy Down afterwards. The 2023 match is scheduled for Friday 4th August 2023 at Tidworth Garrison Golf Club. If Officers’ Club members wish to play in this match they should contact the Officers’ Club Secretary at secretary@ACCassociation.org. The 2023 Society Captain is David Fox and his Vice-Captain is Eric Lewis . If you wish to join the Society or you want information on the 2023 ACCGS West Midlands Tour please contact Geoff Acott.
