Royal
British
Legion,
along
with
the
Poppy

hold
the
offical
opening
of
the
Field
of
Remembrance
, located in the grounds of Westminster Abbey. This event is usually attended by a member of the Royal Family.
The
Association
usually
offers
tickets
to
members,
but
unfortunately,
due
to
Westminster
Abbey
undergoing
construction
work
tickets
are
restricted
to
four
per
association.
The
impact
of
this
is
that
there
are
only
two
tickets
available
to
association
members
which
are
offer
on
a
“first
come,
first
served”
basis.
You
must
be
inside
the
Abbey
gardens
by
10:30
am
at
the
latest,
but
be
aware
you
should
allow
at
least
another
45
minutes
queuing
to pass through the police security check. Allow plenty of time to avoid disappointment!
If
you
are
unsuccessful
to
get
a
ticket
you
can
still
attend,
albeit
from
outside
the
Abbey
gardens.
The
opening
ceremony
start
at
10:55am
ready
for
the sounding of "Last Post" at 11:00am.
Following
the
opening
ceremony,
the
association
will
hold
a
lunch
at
the
Westminster
Kingsway
College
(catering
college).
This
is
open
to
30
association
members,
again
on
a
“first
come,
first
served”
basis.
The
lunch
will
be
a
three-course
lunch
with
each
course
paired
with
a
wine
at
a
cost
of
£30
per
head.
All
cooked
and
served
by
the
students
and
staff
of
the
number
one
catering
college
and
is
extremely
good
value.
If
you
wish
to
attend, please be in the collage bar by 12:45 for lunch at 13:00pm. Please allow time to deposit coats and visit the toilet beforehand.
